About a month ago, I participated in StartUp Weekend Houston. In one of the presentation, Richard Yoo – Founder and previously CEO of Rackspace Hosting (NYSE: RAX) mentioned about an interesting analogy – the Purple Cow. The story is simple:
A family was driving during their vacation and along the way, this is what they saw:
They were really EXCITED and was happy to see it. A few miles later, this is what they saw:
They were LESS EXCITED..a few miles later, this is what they saw:
Now they are BORED…the saw so many cows that it doesn’t make them excited anymore..
A few miles later, they got VERY EXCITED, pulled the car over and ran towards what they saw…and started taking pictures of it. This is what they saw:
A purple cow. What does that tell us?
——-> Sometimes, being different is a good thing. It might be a tough road…and people might think that you are crazy but keep at it. If you believe in something strong enough, be persistent. Just trust in something, whether it is your gut or faith, just know that someday when you look back, all the dots will somehow connect.
